Transylvania Hostel invites you to spend some quality time watching the most important domestic film productions of Romania and also the latest film productions in Europe , at the Transylvanian International Film Festival, that is being held in Cluj Napoca, the capital of Transylvania , from 03 of June 2011 to 12 of June 2011. Here are some facts about the festival ,from the beginning up until today :
The Transylvanian International Film Festival (TIFF) was founded 9 years ago, in 2002, by the Romanian Film Promotion Association and is the first international feature film festival in Romania. At this festival , not only that you can see outstanding films screened , but you can also participate at seminars, workshops, concerts and parties that can last until dawn.
Along the years TIFF honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award many of the leading figures in world cinema like: Julie Delpy, Michael Radford, Annie Girardot, Udo Kier, Vanessa Redgrave, Franco Nero, Nicolas Roeg, Catherine Deneuve, Claudia Cardinale, Wim Wenders.
Here are a list of domestic film productions presented at TIFF the past years: Occident (director: Critian Mungiu) , The Death of Mr. Lazarescu (director: Cristi Puiu), Autobiography of Nicolae Ceausescu (director: Andrei Ujica), Cristian Mungiu’s feature
4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days, winner of the 2007 Palme d’Or and many other films that were presented at the 2010 edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
This year TIFF begins in the last day of the first edition of the Days of Cluj-Napoca that is held between 27 of May until 03 of June 2011.The festival will begin with a france comedy ,,Potiche” directed by Francois Ozone displayed on a large screen that will be put on the Students House of Culture .
